Influenza and the Common Cold (Transmission)

Colds - Colds usually are transmitted through direct contact with an infected person, such as during a handshake or touch. The virus can also be transmitted by touching an object that had been handled by an infected person.71

Flu - Influenza usually is passed in droplets shed by an infected person during coughing or sneezing. A person becomes infected by breathing in these droplets.72
